Minutes of meeting of the Dundalk Cycling Alliance
7th November 2012

1/Attendance
Nadia, Tony, Liam, and Fiona with apologies fromOllan and Pat.

2/Minutes.
Tony proposed and Fiona seconded the adoption of the minutes of the last meeting that were adopted and signed by Liam.

3/ Matters Arising
There were no matters arising.

4/Correspondence.
There was no correspondence.

5/Finance
There have been no changes to the finance this month.

6/Website.
Tony gave a report on the website.

7/Cooley Cycle Lanes
Liam thanked Tony, Fiona and Pat for their contributions to the meeting in the Glen Gat Guest house. The meeting was the first in a series to lobby for a tourist based cycle lane linking Dundalk to Newry via Cooley. The next meeting of the Cooley Cycle Lane Lobby will  be  held  in  Newry  in January 2013.

8/Dundalk Cycle lanes
Liam will  write  to  Dundalk  Town  Council  and  congratulate them  on the  information  pack they published, namely, “Park n Stride”. This tract advised parents of where they can park without cost, which will enable their children to be brought to within walking distance of school. This will reduce traffic congestion in the vicinity of the schools, reduce pollution and bring health benefits of walking to pupils. Nadia will write to the local papers about the information pack.

9/A. O. B.
Liam gave a report on the meeting of the Transportation and Cross Border Matters, Strategic Policy Committee where he raised the need for cycle lanes along the bridge to be built at Narrow Water. He also raised the  need  for cycle lanes as  part of the  Cavan–Dundalk Route Improvement Scheme  at the meeting.

The next meeting will be held in Liam’s house from 8:00 to 9:30 on Wednesday 5th December 2012.
