Welcome to the home of Dundalk Cycling Alliance on the web.

This is an exciting time for cyclists of all ages! There are many cycling related plans and ideas for Dundalk and its surrounding area.

The website brings together information about the group, relevant press and media coverage, correspondence, minutes of meetings and relevant regulations and related motions.

Since Ireland has now ratified the Paris Climate Change Agreement the DCA is looking forward to a substantial increase on expenditure for traffic segregated cycle lanes.

Cycle for Sarah – Sunday 24th March 2024 in aid of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Thrust.

The DCA are delighted to see the fantastic progress being made on the Newry to Carlingford Greenway. The section on the Irish side of the border will be completed very soon. This will be quickly followed by the short section between the border and Victoria Lock on the northern side of the border. The northern section will include a boardwalk to keep us on the water side of the road. When this has been completed you will be able to cycle the whole way from Carlingford to Portadown.

The DCA were delighted to attend a public consultation about extending the Carlingford Greenway the whole way to Dundalk.  It is expected that the construction of this section of the Great Eastern Greenway will commence in 2027. The first stage of the consultation process is underway and can be viewed on the Louth CoCo website and at https://www.dundalkcarlingfordgreenway.ie/

We are delighted to acknowledge the two major Pathfinder projects in Dundalk under the Pathfinder Programme of 35 exemplar transport projects announced by Minister Ryan. We are expecting public consultation to occur in the next few months. Both projects are in the Dundalk Urban area. We are expecting rapid progress in these projects as they are to be completed by 2025.
