Woman and bicycleThe benefits of cycling include all the well-documented advantages of fitness in general. Cycling also helps the environment – the air you and I breathe, the water we depend on to stay alive, the earth where our food grows. The reduction in poisonous emissions is obvious, but also the process of producing a bicycle is much less damaging to the planet we call home. Drivers benefit when cycling increases, as the reduction in traffic volume leads to smoother traffic flow and faster journeys.

Businesses benefit from a cycling friendly neighbourhood. Revenue increase has been noted in numerous areas where cycling was energetically encouraged and enabled. Employees who cycle or walk to work are better workers than those who don’t.

Cycling is such an obvious bonus for any town or region, that the question should not be “Why should we invest in cycling?”, it should be “How could anyone possibly be against it?”
